1 review for HONDA STX1300 ST 1300 X TOURING SCREEN

    A very welcome upgrade.

Slipscreens UK – Honda ST1300 X “Touring Screen”
Preliminary Review: So far I’m very pleased. Out of the package it’s a thick slab of acrylic. Nothing flimsy about it. Clean and shiny with nicely finished edges. Stacked with the original windscreen the bottom shape is the same, the sides are a little wider, and the curl at the top is added on so it’s at least 2″ taller at the top.
I rode an ST1100 “Pan-European” for 15 years and the original window was a fine as is. Never gave it a second thought. Upgrading to the ST1300 with an original windscreen, (same helmet and gear), the wind roar through my helmet was deafening. Earplugs became mandatory rather than optional. Constantly fiddling with the screen up and down trying to find a comfortable spot. Always ended up with the edge of the screen directly in line of sight. Not happy.
Switching over to the Slipscreens “Touring Screen” with the curl at the top, the improvement is dramatic. I can run the screen down well below line of sight and still be “in the bubble”. At low speed (up to 40mph) I forget to put the helmet visor down because there’s no wind on my face at all. At normal road speeds there is a some slight puffy buffeting over the top, but the unrelenting wind roar is gone. Most of what I hear now is engine and front tire sounds coming up through the handlebars. At walking speeds when you’re trying to look low and directly in front of the bike you become aware of the distortion through the curve at the top of the screen. It’s a little disorienting at first but you get used to it. Most of the time it’s absolutely a non-issue as you’re looking over the screen rather than through it.
The only downside I’m seeing to this upgrade is that the company didn’t etch their name and contact info on the bottom of the screen somewhere. I’ll certainly be asked many times this riding season.
